Title:  Senior Manager, Specialty Pharmacy Programs

The Senior Manager, Specialty Pharmacy plays a critical role within the Market Access and Trade organization, leading strategic engagements with specialty pharmacy partners to support the commercialization and performance of the company’s biologic, oncology, and specialty product portfolio. This individual will manage key national and regional specialty pharmacy accounts, collaborate cross-functionally to optimize distribution and access strategies, and drive execution of initiatives that enhance patient access and product performance. This is a field‑based position.

Reporting Relationship

Reports to: National Account Director, Specialty Pharmacy

Key Responsibilities

Specialty Pharmacy Account Leadership

  • Lead day‑to‑day management of assigned specialty pharmacy accounts, including national PBM‑affiliated SPs and accredited regional partners.
  • Build, develop, and sustain strong relationships with clinical, operational, executive, and trade leaders (e.g., Brand Teams, Payer Directors, Trade Directors, SP Operations).
  • Serve as a trusted partner to specialty pharmacies to ensure optimal distribution, pull‑through, and patient access to the company’s specialty brands.

Strategic Planning & Execution

  • Develop and execute account‑specific business plans aligned with brand, Market Access, and Trade strategies.
  • Identify opportunities to expand access, optimize dispensing pathways, and enhance operational efficiency across assigned accounts.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Managed Markets, Field Reimbursement, HUB Services, and Trade teams to integrate specialty pharmacy initiatives into broader commercial plans.

Contracting & Negotiation

  • Support contract discussions and operational implementation with specialty pharmacies, including:
    • Direct and indirect distribution agreements
    • Fee‑for‑service arrangements
    • Data service and performance‑based agreements
  • Support National Account Director Partner to evaluate proposals, ensure contract compliance, and monitor ongoing performance.

Operational & Analytical Expertise

  • Apply deep understanding of specialty pharmacy operations, including: SP workflows, patient services, KPIs, claims data, reimbursement dynamics, and data reporting.
  • Analyze account performance, dispensing trends, payer mix, and operational barriers to recommend solutions and create dashboards.
  • Support quarterly business reviews and present results to internal leaders and external partners.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to support product access and drive successful execution of launch and in‑market strategies.
  • Communicate insights from specialty pharmacy partners back into the organization to inform strategy, forecasting, and operational enhancements.

Field Team Leadership (if applicable)

  • Provide coaching, guidance, and mentorship to team members or cross-functional field colleagues as needed.
  • Support training programs related to SP engagement, negotiation, and account management best practices.

Requirements & Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 8–10 years of experience in pharmaceuticals, biotech, or specialty pharmacy; experience working directly with specialty pharmacies is strongly preferred.
  • Prior experience in Market Access, Trade, or Account Management roles within specialty pharmacy channels.
  • Experience with biologics, oncology, dermatology, or specialty therapeutic areas preferred.

Technical & Operational Skills

  • Strong understanding of buy‑and‑bill, Medicare Part B & D, SP operations, and reimbursement pathways.
  • Familiarity with distribution channels, wholesalers, GPOs, IDNs, chargebacks, and data agreements.

Other Requirements-Ability to travel 35%+, including overnight travel.

The presently-anticipated base compensation pay range for this position is $145,000 to $175,000. Actual base compensation may vary based on a number of factors, including but not limited to geographical location and experience. In addition, this position is part of the Annual Performance Bonus Plan.
