Job Summary:
Sun Pharma is seeking a strategic and influential leader to spearhead external engagement, policy initiatives, patient advocacy, government relations, and corporate communications across the United States and Canada. This leadership role is pivotal in fostering a supportive policy and business environment for our pharmaceutical operations, products, and patients in North America. Reporting directly to the CEO, the incumbent will act as a primary advisor on public affairs matters and represent the company’s interests with federal, state/provincial, and local governments, trade associations, advocacy groups, and other key stakeholders. 

 

The selected individual will advise the CEO and executive leadership on matters of public image, regulatory risk, media relations, and stakeholder communications while serving as a trusted advisor to business unit leaders on market-specific communications and advocacy efforts.  He/She will partner cross-functionally with Legal, R&D, HR, Compliance, and Commercial teams to ensure message alignment and regulatory compliance. Minimum travel expected is 30% for this role, along with a hybrid work schedule.

 

 

Responsibilities:
Government Affairs & Policy (U.S. & Canada)
•    Develop and implement public policy strategies aligned with the company's business objectives, promoting product access and enhancing company brand.
•    Monitor and analyze legislative, regulatory, and health policy trends at all governmental levels.
•    Establish and nurture productive relationships with government officials, regulatory bodies, and health agencies.

Advocacy & Stakeholder Engagement
•    Collaborate with patient advocacy groups and public health organizations to advance mutual priorities.
•    Represent the company at industry roundtables, policy forums, and advocacy coalitions.
•    Lead initiatives that showcase Sun Pharma’s commitment to access, affordability, and innovation.Trade Association Representation
•    Serve as the primary liaison to significant U.S. and Canadian industry associations (e.g., PhRMA, BIO, Innovative Medicines Canada).
•    Ensure active and strategic engagement in industry committees and working groups.
•    Coordinate cross-functional alignment on policy positions and industry responses.

Corporate Communications (External Affairs Focus)
•    Collaborate with internal teams to create impactful communications that align with public affairs goals.
•    Support the development of public statements, executive speeches, and policy-oriented messaging.
•    Monitor media coverage and public sentiment related to regulatory matters.

 

Qualifications:
•    Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Health Policy, Law, Communications, or a related field is required; Master’s degree preferred.
•    Experience in a global pharmaceutical, biotech, or healthcare organization is highly preferred.
•    15+ years of experience in public affairs, government relations, or policy within the pharmaceutical or healthcare sectors with 5+ years at the executive level.
•    Established relationships with key stakeholders in government and regulatory agencies are highly preferred.
•    Deep understanding of U.S. and Canadian healthcare systems, policy landscapes, and legislative processes.
•    Proven success in influencing complex policy issues and cross-border public affairs navigation.
•    Proven track record of managing global media relations, crisis response, and government engagement.
•    Deep understanding of healthcare policy, global regulatory frameworks, and stakeholder engagement.

The presently-anticipated base compensation pay range for this position is $279,000 to $341,000. Actual base compensation may vary based on a number of factors, including but not limited to geographical location and experience. In addition, this position is part of the Annual Performance Bonus Plan, and may be eligible for the Long Term Incentive Plan. Employees are eligible to participate in Company employee benefit programs which include medical, dental and vision coverage; life insurance; disability insurance; 401(k) savings plan; flexible spending accounts; and the employee assistance program. Employees also receive various paid time off benefits, including vacation time and sick time.
