Description:
Sun is seeking a VP within its Business Development group in Princeton, NJ. The VP will report into Chief Strategy Officer and will be responsible for leading Search & Evaluate process for Licensing and M&A opportunities in the US/EU/China. This role is office based 3 days a week in Princeton, NJ.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with extended Business Development and specialty therapy area teams to refine Sun’s strategy for growth in current areas of ophthalmology, dermatology, and onco-derm; and evaluate opportunities to expand into additional therapy areas such as oncology and rheumatology
- Build and lead a team of S&E professionals in US, EU and in China
- Identify and track licensing opportunities consistent with defined strategy
- Develop and manage strategic partnerships with key biotech and pharma companies to grow Sun’s business
- Create and implement processes to monitor projects and ensure timely decision making at governance meetings
- Make presentations to company senior executives, internal and external
- Work cross-functionally with Transactions and Legal teams to prepare Term Sheets and Licensing Agreements
- Serve as a member of the negotiations team; track and report on the status of proposal components
- Maintain competitive intelligence data
- Strong record of accomplishment in Business Development and contributions to deals (deal sheet required)
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience leading and working with cross-functional teams.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities, with the ability to navigate complex challenges.
- Industry Awareness: Stay current with industry trends, emerging therapies, and advancements in clinical trial methodologies.
- Interpersonal Skills: Collaborative and able to build strong relationships with internal teams and external partners.
- Contributes to a team culture that promotes continuous improvement, ownership, professional growth, and inclusion.
Qualifications:
- PhD or MD/PhD with expertise in immunology, dermatology and/or rheumatology. Post-doctoral experience a plus. Experience in leading Business Development activities in pharma and/or biotech a requirement.
- 15+ years of biotech and/or pharma business development.
- International experience (including EU and China)

Actual base compensation may vary based on a number of factors, including but not limited to geographical location and experience. In addition, this position is part of the Annual Performance Bonus Plan.
