Job Overview

Senior Manager Pricing and Contracts is responsible for analytics, score carding and opportunity analysis for payer, GPO and IDN agreements. Familiar with traditional approaches to pricing, contracting and reimbursement across payers, GPO’s IDN, specialty pharmacy and should be familiar with buy and bill and medical benefits. Must have ability to work on cross functional teams with demonstrated ability to influence colleagues through a consultative process. The role requires a collaborative leadership style that can translate analysis and account research into strategies for Sun Brand products.

 

Responsibilities

  • Develop pricing and contract analytics for PBM/GPO agreements for currently marketed in-line products, pipeline products or products being evaluated for acquisition.
  • Develop financial modeling to support contract strategy and roadmap development for PBM/GPO RFP’s; includes Commercial, Part D, Medical benefits.
  • Prepares detailed monthly PBM/GPO summary reports for quarterly business reviews with senior leadership.
  • Regularly reviews current PBM/GPO contract progress to goal and creates performance scorecards to assess contract performance.
  • Monitors US list price and contracting environment for competitive pharmaceutical products.
  • Liaises with Strategic Pricing & Contracting to monitor the existing deals - compare contract performance versus results against projected/contracted KPIs and developing a contingency plan to bridge any gap.
  • Prepares price increase proposals for Pricing and Contracting Committee Review. Works with Business Unit Head, Government Pricing, Compliance, Co-Pay Card Programs and Finance to assess PBM/GPO price protection, Inflation Reduction Act and other aspects that impact price changes.
  • Leads the analysis of the impact on pricing decisions/ recommendations on Average Realized Price/profitability
  • Prepares quarterly pricing updates for Apexus; 340B, sub-ceiling, etc.
  • Participate on cross functional teams for the development and implementation of plan level contracting strategy for product launches and throughout the product lifecycle
  • Utilize transactional systems of record whenever possible to ensure validity and reliability of data and analysis.
  • Review Account Scorecards and assess contract performance with Market Access Account Managers
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, and develops quarterly/annual formulary tracking updates.
  • Leads and takes ownership of market research as it relates to specific payer reimbursement issues impacting profitability. Proactively drives price sensitivity/price elasticity studies for new and in-line products with resultant break-even elasticity
  • Develops analytics for annual review of current pricing strategies and co-owns the process for developing pricing recommendations for the next calendar year. 
  • Participates directly in key customer meetings, as appropriate
  • Develops content for Pricing Committee meetings, as appropriate
  • Develops and maintains relationships with customer account management teams
  • Communicates developed pricing and contracting strategies effectively and appropriately

Qualifications

  •  7+ years of progressive experience in Contracts, Pricing or Market Access within the pharmaceutical and/or biopharmaceutical industry
  • Experience in analytics and forecasting development
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and business skills; with the ability to communicate effectively with senior management
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including the knowledge of source data with the ability to research complex policy issues and lead quantitative analyses
  • Knowledge of health care pricing, contracting and reimbursement practices and regulatory requirements
  • Knowledge of Medical Benefits, Buy and Bill, VA, DoD, 340B and Commercial programs and payer policies
  • Prepare, oversee and Implement WAC optimization strategy (WAC reductions)
  • Ability to work in a deadline-driven and fast-paced multi-tasking environment including managing multiple projects with on time completion
  • Demonstrated ability to process complex information and summarize it concisely in writing and/or verbally in a professional manner and in a time sensitive environment as required
  • Able to manage any of a number of special projects that may be collaborative or single contributor in scope. These special projects may be assigned or individually developed out of the need for process improvement, increased operational efficiency, or training needs as they may arise

Education and Experience

  • College Graduate-Bachelor’s Degree minimum with MBA a plus
  • 7+ years pharmaceutical industry experience preferably in Contracts, Pricing or Market Access
