Job Summary:
The Senior Manager, Accounts Payable is responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership over end to end Accounts Payable activities for Sun locations. This role ensures accurate, timely, and compliant payment processing while driving continuous improvement, governance, and optimization of AP processes. The role serves as a key liaison between internal stakeholders, outsourced service providers (IBM), and financial institutions.
Responsibilities:
Leadership & Oversight
• Provide overall leadership and direction for Accounts Payable operations for Sun locations.
• Establish performance expectations, service levels, and controls to ensure accurate, timely invoice processing and payments.
• Act as a subject matter expert and escalation point for complex AP, vendor, and payment issues.
• Partner closely with the Director of Payables to support broader payables, treasury, and banking strategies.
Accounts Payable Operations
• Oversee the timely receipt, review, and processing of all invoices, ensuring compliance with internal controls and SOX requirements.
• Drive increased utilization of PO based invoicing and automation to enhance efficiency and control.
• Review, approve, and authorize payment runs, including ACH, check, and wire payments.
• Oversee ad hoc and urgent payment requests, ensuring proper approvals and audit trails.
• Ensure timely clearing of employee advances and accurate reconciliation of vendor accounts.
Vendor & Master Data Management
• Oversee vendor onboarding, maintenance, and changes in the Vendor Master, ensuring data integrity and compliance.
• Establish governance and controls around vendor setup, templates, and banking instructions.
• Manage vendor inquiries and resolve escalated disputes professionally and efficiently.
Systems, Controls & Process Improvement
• Coordinate closely with IBM teams to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant invoice processing and system performance.
• Lead continuous process improvement initiatives to improve cycle time, reduce errors, and enhance reporting.
• Ensure strong internal controls, documentation, and audit readiness across all AP activities.
• Champion system enhancements within SAP and OpenText to improve automation and reporting capabilities.
Banking & Payments
• Oversee setup and maintenance of bank templates for wire and electronic payments.
• Serve as primary AP contact with banks for operational matters related to payments.
• Monitor payment activity to ensure accuracy, compliance, and fraud prevention.
Cross Functional Collaboration
• Partner with Procurement, Treasury, Finance, and Operations to resolve issues and improve upstream/downstream processes.
• Provide guidance to internal stakeholders on proper handling of financial transactions and AP policies.
• Support internal and external audits related to accounts payable and payments.

Education & Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field required.
• 10+ years of progressive Accounts Payable experience, including leadership or senior oversight responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of AP best practices, internal controls, SOX compliance, and audit requirements.
• Advanced proficiency with SAP and OpenText; strong ability to learn and optimize new systems.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Demonstrated ability to lead complex processes, manage external partners, and drive process improvements.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Highly detail oriented with strong analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and meet time critical deadlines.
The presently-anticipated base compensation pay range for this position is $127,000 to $155,000. Actual base compensation may vary based on a number of factors, including but not limited to geographical location and experience. In addition, this position is part of the Annual Performance Bonus Plan. Employees are eligible to participate in Company employee benefit programs which include medical, dental and vision coverage; life insurance; disability insurance; 401(k) savings plan; flexible spending accounts; and the employee assistance program. Employees also receive various paid time off benefits, including vacation time and sick time.
