Title: Senior Director, Business Development
This position will play an integral part in the Global Business Development organization supporting the expansion of Sun’s product portfolio in therapeutic areas of strategic interest. The role will support the specialty business through development of analytical assessments, market research and financial evaluation to determine the viability and success for opportunities. This role will report to the VP of Global Business Development and will collaborate with cross functional team leadership.
Responsibilities:
- Support the formulation and implementation of global business development strategy to expand the portfolio. Coordinate strategy across all functions that impact business development efforts including: commercial, medical, tech operations, legal etc.
- Develop and deliver compelling business cases with strategic recommendations through clear communication to leadership and cross functional teams
- Support the business development activities including opportunity sourcing, due diligence, financial modeling and collaboration with internal stakeholders to gain alignment for deal terms and execution.
- Actively partner with S&E lead to manage projects, timelines and progress opportunities through the BD and governance process
- Keep abreast of global innovative medicines market trends and activities to identify growth opportunities
- Build strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to foster collaboration and partnership opportunities. Represent the company while attending various meetings, conferences and industry events.
Education and Qualifications:
- Advanced business degree (MBA, CFA etc) or an advanced degree in a life sciences discipline (PhD, MD, PharmD) with >10 years’ experience in a BD role in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry. Relevant professional experience in management consulting, venture capital, banking or other life-sciences investing can be considered as well.
- Hands-on experience in business development activities with successful track record of negotiating and executing deals. Experience across of variety of deal types (M&A, licensing, investment etc) is highly desirable.
- Strong quantitative skills including financial modeling/valuation for strategic transactions and experience developing and presenting business cases
- Strong project management skills with experience running cross functional teams and managing diverse stakeholders.
- Strong interpersonal skills and comfortable working in a cross-cultural environment.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to synthesize complex information for presentation to collaborators and management.
- Ability to handle tight timelines and manage complex, fast-moving projects.
- Strong network across the pharmaceutical, biotech and investor community
The presently-anticipated base compensation pay range for this position is $268,500 to $295,350. Actual base compensation may vary based on a number of factors, including but not limited to geographical location and experience. In addition, this position is part of the Annual Performance Bonus Plan. Employees are eligible to participate in Company employee benefit programs which include medical, dental and vision coverage; life insurance; disability insurance; 401(k) savings plan; flexible spending accounts; and the employee assistance program. Employees also receive various paid time off benefits, including vacation time and sick time.
