JOB TITLE:  National Sales Director - Sun Medical Dermatology

 

PREFERRED LOCATION: Within 1-2 hour drive of SUN Princeton home office

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE:  Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree with 10+ year’s pharmaceutical/biotech commercial experience. That experience should consist of at least 3+ years in a senior sales leadership role (leader of Area Sales Directors), 3+ years leading teams of first line sales managers (RSMs) and 3+ years as a first line or Regional Manager (leading territory managers / representatives). Recent experience at a national level in the therapeutic area of Dermatology is required.  Candidates must also have carried the bag as a successful pharmaceutical sales representative.

Existing, well-formed relationships with National and Regional KOLs and key Dermatology customers required. Experience in marketing, managed care, commercial operations and/or sales training is a plus. Must have exceptional talent selection skills, oral and written communication skills, and be well versed in Microsoft Office applications (PowerPoint, Excel etc.).

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES/DECISION MAKING AUTHORITY:

Reports directly to the Business Unit Head Medical Dermatology

  • Responsible for leading Area Sales Directors
  • Responsible for meeting monthly, quarterly, and yearly sales goals
  • Works closely with Marketing, Human Resources, Sales Operations, Sales Training and Market Access
  • Develops business relationships with National and Regional Key Opinion Leaders throughout the Area and within each Region
  • Delivers results by thoroughly executing on the assigned Sales & Marketing strategies, selling tools and tactical resources
  • Develops strategic plans, recommendations and business optimization recommendations for presentations to senior BU leadership
  • In partnership with Sales Operations creates, implements and drives Incentive Plans and Incentive performance
  • Drives Sales Strategies with a deep understanding of the complex Market Access environment  for therapeutic dermatology products
  • Responsible for the understanding and utilization of sales reports, CRM, and forecasts
  • Responsible for managing and adhering to all Sales budgets, in-service budgets and programming allocations
  • Responsible for coaching to the sales model and training needs for the sales team in coordination with Sales Training
  • Works with Human Resources, and Management to ensure adherence to Sun corporate policies
  • Works closely with Sales Training to design and lead POA, Area and National Sales meetings
  • Works closely with Sun Human Resources and Training to develop training and development opportunities for the Area Leadership team and sales associates
  • Plays an important role in medical conference strategies and oversees field sales participation at national, regional and local meeting
  • Works with external vendors or strategic business partners to foster collaboration and ensure execution effectiveness and their drive toward achievement of strategy and resource utilization attainment
  • Leads all area sales activities including personnel matters

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:  Directly manages Medical Dermatology Area Sales Directors (2) and indirectly Regional Business Managers (12)

Interactions with Cross-Functional Partners:  Interacts at multiple levels inside and outside the company. Tact, diplomacy, and a high level of professionalism are essential.

Experience: Current or very recent (within the last 2 years) National sales leadership in Dermatology required
