Summary

 

Sun Pharma’s rapidly growing intellectual property portfolio requires expansion of the docketing team to manage and maintain global patent, trademark and copyright records.  The IP Docket Specialist will report to the Associate Director, IP. Sun Pharma’s extensive intellectual property portfolio is a valuable asset of the company. Proper management of statutory deadlines and formal requirements is important to ensure protection of the Company’s intellectual property rights. The IP Docket Specialist manages a variety of duties and works alongside the attorneys, paralegal, and global team leaders.

 

Job Description

Sun Pharma, a renowned global pharmaceutical company, is looking for a dynamic, experienced, and motivated IP Docket Specialist team member. As a valuable team member in the organization, the successful candidate will be responsible for organizing, maintaining records and documents, keeping accurate calendar/time records for deadlines, communicating the actions and deadlines to all stakeholders, and following through to ensure deadlines are timely met. The IP Docket Specialist will assist the global Intellectual Property team with generating patent reports, entering data into the docketing database, providing reminders, retrieving and forwarding documents, and facilitating annuity payments.  The operations of the Intellectual Property Department require discretion and confidentiality.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • IP Portfolio Management: Manage, maintain, and administer global IP docketing database to ensure portfolio is accurate
  • Prepare and monitor daily, weekly and monthly docket reports to ensure all required responses/instructions are timely received and reviewed in order to meet statutory deadlines
  • Ensure all correspondence is analyzed, interpreted and docketed correctly per respective countries laws and regulations; monitor and follow through on incoming instructions/responses from global Intellectual Property department to allow sufficient time for the responsible Attorney and/or Paralegal to review said instructions/responses prior to the deadline
  • Ensure all deadlines are timely met
  • Create specialty reports based upon specific informational needs, i.e., quarterly reports for the Board of Directors
  • Provide training of the IP docketing database to global team members
  • Save all relevant incoming communications to CPI and network drive; ensure files are maintained and current at all times and are compliant with procedure

 

Education and Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university preferred.
  • Minimum 5-7 years job related experience and/or training.
  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of U.S. and foreign patent and trademark docketing rules and regulations (prosecution, maintenance, renewal, procedures, forms, and fees)
  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of an Intellectual Property docketing software, preferably CPI (Computer Packages Inc.)
  • Demonstrate detailed knowledge of Patent Center, ePCT, Europe Patent Register, WIPO PatentScope Publication Search, Trademark Status & Document Retrieval (TSDR), and CIPO trademark database
  • Demonstrate proficient knowledge of Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook), Adobe Professional, OneDrive
  • Strong communication, writing and proofreading skills.
  • Demonstrate the ability to read, analyze and interpret common intellectual property related documentation for global patent, trademark, designs, and understand new intellectual property laws (globally) that affect day-to-day practices and deal with multiple projects on an ongoing basis
  • Strong organization skills demonstrated through good time management, record keeping, and follow-up; must be service oriented
  • Ability to define problems, research data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Flexibility with work hours

 

Base compensation may vary based on a number of factors, including but not limited to geographical location and experience. In addition, this position is part of the Annual Performance Bonus Plan.  Employees are eligible to participate in
