 We are seeking an experienced Storage Administrator to manage enterprise storage infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in designing, deploying, managing, and securing storage systems with a deep understanding of regulatory requirements in the Pharma & Life Sciences domain. The role also demands capabilities in disaster recovery, vendor management, and cost optimization.

Areas Of Responsibility

 

Storage Architecture & Design

  • Design scalable, high-performance, and secure storage solutions (SAN, NAS, Object Storage) aligning with business requirements.
  • Lead the planning and implementation of storage infrastructure upgrades and migrations.
  • Evaluate and recommend technologies for future-proof storage architecture.

Storage Operations & Management

  • Oversee daily operations of storage systems including provisioning, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and lifecycle management.
  • Maintain data integrity and ensure optimal storage availability and efficiency.
  • Automate routine storage tasks using scripts or management tools.

Cloud & Hybrid Storage

  • Manage and optimize storage in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid environments.
  • Implement tiered storage strategies, cloud archival, and backup integrations.
  • Monitor cloud storage costs and optimize consumption.

Security & Compliance

  • Ensure data at rest and in transit is secure through encryption and access control mechanisms.
  • Maintain compliance with Pharma/Life Sciences regulations such as GxP, FDA 21 CFR Part 11, and HIPAA.
  • Perform regular audits, vulnerability assessments, and patch management.

Industry-Specific (Pharma & Life Sciences Focus)

  • Understand and support data lifecycle needs for R&D, manufacturing, clinical trials, and regulatory submissions.
  • Work closely with QA/RA teams to support validation and audit readiness of storage systems.
  • Manage long-term data retention aligned with scientific and regulatory mandates.

Governance & Vendor Management

  • Define storage governance policies including capacity planning, SLA management, and change control.
  • Evaluate and manage vendor relationships for storage hardware/software and cloud providers.
  • Review and negotiate storage support contracts and licensing agreements.

Disaster Recovery & Resiliency

  • Develop and maintain robust backup and disaster recovery strategies.
  • Ensure regular testing and documentation of DR plans across storage platforms.
  • Support business continuity initiatives and RTO/RPO requirements.

Project & Budget Management

  • Lead or participate in infrastructure projects involving storage expansion, migration, or refresh.
  • Prepare storage-related budgets and track expenditures for hardware, software, and cloud.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders for requirement gathering and delivery planning.

Job Requirements

Educational Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Strong hands-on experience with enterprise storage systems (e.g., NetApp, Dell EMC, Pure Storage, HPE).
  • In-depth understanding of storage protocols (FC, iSCSI, NFS, SMB) and data protection strategies.
  • Familiarity with hybrid and cloud storage solutions (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Experience implementing compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR, SOX, ISO 27001) in storage environments.
  • Solid grasp of ITIL practices, risk management, and governance frameworks.
  • Experience with scripting and automation tools is a plus (e.g., PowerShell, Ansible).

Specific Certification

  • NetApp Certified (NCDA/NCIE), Dell EMC Proven Professional, HPE ASE/MASE, Pure Storage Certification
  • ITIL Foundation or Intermediate
  • Project Management (PMP/Prince2) is a plus
  • Cloud certifications (AWS/Azure) are desirable

Experience

5+ years in enterprise storage management.

2+ years in a leadership or team lead capacity, managing or mentoring technical staff.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
