General Summary:
Manufacture product as per customer and company requirements while working within a team environment. Responsible for sanitation, set-up and operation of all production equipment within the Packaging Department. Follows all cGMP’s, SOP’s and company policies/ regulations and remains aligned to Taro Pharmaceutical Inc.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate packaging lines and equipment (primary and secondary)
- Complete G.M.P. documents, such as the Packaging Work Orders
- Place packaged drug product into case shippers
- Perform manual functions on the line such as transferring product from one conveyor to the next, flip cartons into predefined configurations and supply the various magazines / hoppers with components.
- Ensure drum and lot changes are completed effectively and on-time with minimal bulk waste
- Perform roll changes of banding, sealing material and basic trouble shooting of equipment
- Perform “in process “checks during the packaging process
- Verify in-process test results, component lot # changes etc.
- Perform line clearance processes both inside primary filling rooms and secondary packaging areas
- Assist with the counting (reconciliation of components used for the packaging operation
- Perform housekeeping tasks such as washing floors, walls. Prepare detergent and sanitizing agents with the correct dilution factor
- Sanitize filling rooms as per standard operating procedure
- Wash and sanitize miscellaneous and product contact parts for filling and compounding equipment
- Maintain the wash up room in a clean and sanitary condition. Maintain miscellaneous and sanitization supplies
- Assist with staging of raw materials and equipment parts
- Complete G.M.P. documents right first time, for example cleaning & sanitization records, packaging work orders, non-stationary equipment logs etc. and enter data into appropriate applications (MES, Serialization)
- Complete all training assignments and maintain personal training records
- Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Mechanical aptitude combined with demonstrates curiosity and willingness to learn

- Demonstrates strong attention to detail, observing rules and how processes affect their work and quality attributes.
- Excellent math skills
- Excellent command of the English language combined with strong written and oral communication skills

- Computer literacy with applicable computer systems including Microsoft Office and manufacturing software
Background and Experience:
- Minimum Grade 12 education or equivalent.
- Previous experience working in a similar role within a pharmaceutical packaging environment.
Problem Solving:
- Problems that may arise, shall be discussed with the team leader and / or the Packaging Supervisor prior to proceeding with corrective actions.
- Able to resolve minor difficulties such as starting and stopping fillers, clearing “ jam – ups “.
Working Conditions:
- Manual functions require good hand / eye co-ordination.
- A requirement to be sitting, standing, lifting and walking throughout the day (up to 60lbs).
- Operate lifting devices such as drum lifters, pallet trucks and pallet wrappers.
- Overtime will be required. This may be additional time during the workweek and / or weekends.
