Our Brampton location is presently looking for Manager, R&D Analytical Development (Skin Program)


The main responsibilities of this position are to manage, guide and coach Analytical R&D Skin Research Team. Lead process improvements to increase productivity and efficiency and the timely support of projects in development, submissions and post-submission phases.  This position requires efforts and due diligence to drive new technology and science within site and in harmonization between other Taro and Sun Pharma research sites. Daily activities include oversight of pre-formulation and analytical development/validation work within Skin Research Team to ensure timely task completion with quality outcomes per required regulations and Taro SOP's.


Duties and responsibilities


  • Coach, guide and motivate reporting team to achieve high quality results in an effective manner
  • Monitor, measure and optimize analytical development tasks cycle time
  • Implement new programs and technology within analytical development to meet technical requirements  of the CMCs, AQbD and IP
  • Support and guide dermatology skin research activities such as tissue separation, in vitro skin permeation, invitro tape stripping, and IVPT mass balance.
  • Support the review, writing and design of IVPT validation, results and reports
  • Work closely with analytical development teams leaders/supervisors in maintaining uniform scheduling standards and development efficiency
  • Contribute to efficient design of experiments in all analytical development work conducted by the reporting team.
  • Set up and maintain clear and transparent work reporting system and matrix for all analytical development work
  • Ensure effective data review process, timeliness and assignments in Analytical GLP Method Development and Validation.
  • Harmonize analytical development, planning and matrix between Taro international sites and beyond as required.
  • Ensure timely completion of projects based on defined deadlines
  • Ensure that all work and development data meet required level of quality and adherence to GLP, GMP's and Taro SOP's as necessitated.
  • Maintain safe working conditions




  • Minimum: M.Sc. degree in Pharmaceutical science, Medical or Life Science combined with five years of relevant IVPT pharmaceutical analytical lab experience in the leadership role.
  • Preferred: Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical sciences, Medical or Life Science combined with five years of pharmaceutical/analytical lab experience in the leadership role.
  • Excellent problem solving and logical skills are required to tackle scientific and instrument related problems arising on a daily basis.
  • Superior theoretical and practical knowledge of skin permeability, topical and transdermal enhancement strategies, organic, inorganic and analytical chemistry including in-depth knowledge of spectrometry and other analytical techniques employed in the pharmaceutical development.
  • Effective knowledge of chemistry, with main focus on analytical, organic and physical chemistry.


Working conditions


  • Generally, the surroundings are fairly pleasant.  Occasional exposure to various chemicals while in the lab.  Fairly level temperatures but with occasional "extremes" that can make working in a sitting position for lengthy periods rather uncomfortable.  Mostly sitting job with an occasional mixture of standing and walking.
