Duties and responsibilities

 

The Financial Accountant is responsible for:

  • Preparation and analysis of various monthly financial reports for management
  • Participate in the accounting close process (journal entries to financial statements including reconciliations and reporting)
  • Act as backup for various costing functions.
  • Assist in the preparation of the other COGS budget
  • Assistance with the quarterly reviews and annual audit, specifically focused on inventory requests
  • Responsible for the preparation of month end journal entries (inventory and costing related)
  • Responsible for the preparation and analysis of inventory and analyzing other COGS expenses
  • Monitors inventory movement, highlighting problem areas, such as obsolescence, expired items, etc. and makes appropriate recommendations as required
  • Responsible for the preparation of the profit elimination report for US Inventory
  • Responsible for the preparation of the inventory valuation and related quarterly and year end working papers for the quarterly reviews and annual audit
  • Maintain standard cost file for new and existing items on a regular basis
  • Prepare transfer pricing calculations, coordinate approvals with other Taro entities and update system with approved transfer prices
  • Ensures accounting records and internal controls are maintained to ensure compliance with Company objectives, GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.
  • Provide direct input/analysis into problem areas
  • Designs and implements new reports to satisfy user requirements
  • Interact with other departments to address ad hoc financial analysis
  • Communicate with various internal and external customers and suppliers
  • Ad hoc financial reporting and analysis as required

 

Additional responsibility (Only applicable to customer facing roles)

 

Report any adverse event received from customers for company products to the pharmacovigilance department / Drug Safety on the same day or within 1 business day

 

Qualifications

 

  • Minimum University or college degree (preferably in a business or commerce stream)
  • Minimum 5 years of accounting experience; preferably within the pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
  • Candidates possessing an Accounting designation are preferred.
  • Able to identify, investigate and resolve discrepancies in the accounting records.
  • Able to propose changes to the existing processes and controls
  • Strong analytical and Excel skills are a must
  • Ability to multi-task and respond to requests from multiple locations
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work with diverse personality types
  • Strong computer skills (MS Office including advanced Excel) combined with ERP experience, preferably with SAP.
  • Experience with reporting systems, specifically SAP BI.
  • Detail oriented with strong analytical skills
  • Flexibility in hours required to fulfill demands, particularly during month end and audit periods
  • Strong financial accounting skills
  • Can work independently, as well as in a team setting
  • Working knowledge of costing and inventory accounting principles an asset
