Title: Director, Finance
Job purpose
The Director, Finance is responsible for all aspects of Canadian financial accounting/reporting and internal control systems for Sun Canada. This position will act as a key member of the senior management team in making good business decisions and achieving a high level of performance. The Director Finance provides direct and indirect financial leadership (including: direction, guidance, and training) to a supporting team of managerial, professional and administrative personnel.
Duties and responsibilities
- Ensure the preparation and analysis of financial statements for Sun North America and Sun Canada
- Ensure the maintenance of financial accounting records in accordance with US GAAP for Sun Canada and ensure consolidated financial reporting includes Indian IFRS adjustments for Sun Pharma (parent company)
- Develop and recommend financial framework/practices/control procedures to achieve business objectives
- Ensure internal controls are in place and operational compliance
- Support the completion of the annual audit and quarterly reviews with external auditors.
- Lead the company wide budgeting process for all Canadian operations and commercial activities and ensuring key budget milestones are met for Sun Pharma.
- Ensure the intercompany transfer pricing is maintained and in compliance with guidelines provided by Corporate Tax Director
- Ensure cash flow forecasts are updated to support the company hedging program and manage local bank investments to maximize returns
- Ensure working capital levels are maintained and work with other functional areas to support working capital reductions
- Implement changes to processes, activities, and tasks within the Finance department’s control, as required
- Recommend and implement changes to services provided to the other functional areas within Sun, ensuring that the work performed within the Finance department supports the activities carried out in those operational units
- Responsible for recruiting, training and developing staff, conducting performance reviews and giving ongoing feedback
- Responsible for all tax compliance inclusive of local and federal filings.
- Support commercial GX business of approx. $200MM and Brand business of $50 million.
- Interact with related parties at other Taro Pharma sites and Sun Pharma sites.
- Monitor legislation relevant to the company and ensure compliance
- Provide direction and prioritization of department initiatives/activities
- Provide direct input into problem areas
- Participates in and leads special projects as required
Additional responsibility (Only applicable to customer facing roles)
Report any adverse event received from customers for company products to the pharmacovigilance department / Drug Safety on the same day or within 1 business day
Qualifications
- University degree required, preferably in Business Administration or Commerce
- Professional accounting designation required (CPA)
- At least 10 -15 years of experience in increasingly more responsible financial roles within a manufacturing environment, preferably in the Pharmaceutical industry
- 5 to 7 years of people management experience
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities around teamwork and influencing in order to manage global relationships and issues with tight timelines
- Require a high degree of leadership and excellent people management skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; with the ability to work with diverse personality types
- Ability to work in fast paced environment and to manage several projects simultaneously
- Strong analytical abilities and problem solving through team interaction
- Pro-active approach to financial reporting, performance reporting and internal control issues combined with the ability to interact with all levels in the organization to address and resolve issues
- Capable of handling non-directional problems where the ultimate solution may not be evident
- Superior ability to use computer-based ERP systems (SAP knowledge preferred) and reporting tools such as SAP Business Objects - BI plus software such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
- Excellent knowledge of Canadian and US generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Working knowledge of costing and accounting principles
